Well, it was a card .

And, I hope that he will understand the words when someone gets around to reading it to him. There will be problems beyond the cognitive ones. Problems beyond the eyesight and hearing ones, for that matter. Those last two are rather severe ... but, words like "severe" seem inappropriate in the environment of someone of that age.

The reader of my and the card author's words may not get the intonation quite right, either. It's the thoughts, right?

There was a recent card in my mailbox:



I put it with another card and some of what I’m thinking to start, today . There's a picture of Mom there, too. Dad would approve because he's always behaved like there should be projects and focus on the future. Mom is actually standing beside Dad's little brother in the picture. He is in his sailor uniform and looks like a kid. He was. Just old enough to join during the final days of the World War. He stopped by to visit Mom who was waiting for Dad to come home after over 3 years away.

Working in the school system for 25 plus years I have always asked the students, lunch eaters, bus passengers to refer to me as Mrs. R-- it is a Respect thing. I have not colored my hair since I was expecting baby #1, 37 years ago. I am still blonde(ish) Lots of silver highlights My great grandma went from Blonde to White. Looked great on her.

the age things i had to deal with yesterday were:

spending $3.50 for a lb of butter because Mom had a coupon for it while the butter right next to it was $3.00 (but she was very happy we got gas for less that morning...)

and Mom wanted a solar clock for inside (because her tic tock clock was making too much noise). she also wanted it to be lit up bright. you can't have lit up bright unless you plug it in. no, it can't have a plug. not bright enough inside during the day to light up a solar clock, let alone at night...

we settled on a bright green cube that will light up bright if you hit the button on the top, but that only works for a few seconds (otherwise it will drain the batteries).

i promised her there were no tic tocks in that cube or i would return it.

FlowerBug, my brother moved back in with us after his stint in the Navy and while I was still in high school. Once again, we shared a bedroom. I can remember the clock he used to set his time to rise in the morning and go to work. It was a d..n flap clock!

Oh, it was electric but the numbers were on plastic and some kind of wheel. It turned them one at a time. Click, Click, Click, Click !!!!

The cashier at the soopermarket handed me some kind of Monopoly cards at check out. I don't gamble but I was with someone the other day who does. Wheel of Fortune was on teevee and someone WON BIG! She was upset and, seemingly, not in a positive way! I guess she felt that she should have been the big winner ... I just don't understand. But anyway, I didn't know what to do with the cards but it said that we could play online, for cream cheese (!) and stuff! This is so unlike me but: I went to the website and signed up. However, it looks like there's an app to download to turn my computer into some kind of casino! Fergetaboutit!

Like weed seeds, adding your name to a calling list that doesn't spreak engrish, may require some repair that would have been cheaper to buy a new one in the first place (NO! I'm NOT still mad about that one!!!! Stop bringing it up.) (please dammit!).

Free stuff can be so much fun. Just nothing electronic or with moving parts or alive...

Hay forks would be good, though.
