is my compost killing my bulbs and perennials?

not exactly sure what you mean by pyramid. i did have some bulbs stacked in layers, so as to bloom after each other. there was a fair bit of snow on it most of the winter, and i did water it over the spring. but that could be a possibility.

the pansies and petunias i planted in ther a month ago, and the dahlias seem to be thriving. 99% of everything i planted last fall is toast.....altho, there are still some tulip and crocus bulbs in there that i'm hoping w/come up next year....it was very strange....but you explanation could be the problem......thanks

i'm not sure why the other perennials, such as foxtail lilies, liatris, echinacea, blackberry lillies, only to mention a few, never did anything; i couldn't even find remnants of them in the bed; and i planted a good $200 worth of stuff!! it was my only big splurge ever!!
