It looks like a form of mallow to me, see if you can post a picture of the blossom when it opens.

What is mallow Ann ?

A member of the Malvaceae family. Other members are Hollyhocks (Alcea spp.), and Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus), and Hibiscus spp.

There really is a marshmallow plant, Althaea officinalis, which is where the Mallow family gets its name.

I believe Natalie has nailed the id in question!

It's Hibiscus trionum , or Flower-Of-An-Hour. IMHO a pretty but pesky weed.

I agree, it is pretty. Don't have it around here, although there's a pink mallow in my neighbor's yard that's fairly weedy. I let it wander into her yard, she loves it, it came from my garden, I pulled it all out here. I make sure to keep it deadheaded for her so it doesn't wander back over here! :tools
