I can see why you will miss the garden at your moms. It seems like a very quiet peaceful place.
Those hedges are very mature! Will you be doing the removal yourself?
I will be doing a similar thing this spring for a client. Taking out 55 arborvitae along a driveway and replacing them with something the deer aren't fond of.
I will be getting help from my husband and maybe Kid#2 (depending on the size of the bribe).
Fortunately for us, there is pavement along both sides of the hedge and we will be using dh's engine hoist to pull them out, which makes the process much less labor intensive.
