Lovely garden! I'm curious about the 'Do you do anything special to yours?' question too. I make jam from ours, but would love some other ideas.

My wife and I moved to Slidel (just across the lake from New Orleans) in 1986. In 1990 we moved to the tiny town of Theriot which is south of Houma. Although it was soooooo hot, soooooo humid, soooooo backwoods we loved it anyway. I worked for an engineering company in those days and we specialized in marine equipment design. My wife worked in the tiny engineering office there. I spent one or two days every week out in the gulf or back in the swamps. We made some lifelong friends back in the bayou. We ate animals and vegetables that the average human wouldn't even think of. Yum! Yum! Swam with the gators and the water moccasins, too. I'm sure we ate tons of crawfish, crabs, and seafood while we were there. We left the area in 1999. 13 years of paradise.herbsherbsflowers said:<snip> I grew up in Louisiana near Alexandria. I still have family in New Orleans and Covington and Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Where did you live?
