I will remember that. . .

Someone in the neighborhood has a fantastic short lily in vibrant orange that catches my eye every time I drive by. He may come home to an empty hole between the lilies.

I was having big problems with snakes in my yard, I couldn't go out in yard with out seeing one. After I found one in house I had exterminator come spray around house every other week. Wasn't really making any difference but I felt better about it. After many checks to exterminator, I had a workman over to fix a window. Some how subject of my snake problem came up. He said of course you have snakes, your yard is over run with there favorite food grasshoppers. I knew I had large number of grasshoppers, but thought them harmless so had a live and let live attitude with them.When i got rid of grasshoppers number of snakes went down big time. Exterminator who was coming every 2 weeks never mention, that could be souse of large snake population.

Of course not. He's not a grasshopper exterminator. He'd be out of a job, haha!

I like my little garden snakes and saw one scoot along the siding in the worst section of Grasshopperville. They can be a little startling though. I wish they had bigger appetites. Maybe I need a giant grasshopper constrictor.

I have a few lilies plunked here and there, but much more impressive in mass plantings like yours.

I have waited 3 years for a black beauty tiger lily that I got from a friend to bloom - didn't spray it enough and the deer knew I was out of town last week, ate all the buds off!

@thistlebloom .. I would much rather have grasshoppers!

I can usually keep up with spraying the buds a few times and it fends them off, just a lot going on this year. Maddening, it's the only thing in the entire garden that they ate!

Even worse, a young one got under my fishing line barrier around the vegetable garden and devoured 6 pepper plants. I had to run an extra line, little brat!

@Lavender2 , I have been out collecting a box of grasshoppers for you. Will ship when you have my deer ready. Could you do a few steaks, a roast and the rest ground?

Beautiful lilies! I am also a lover of the Lily. Mine bloom each year by color. Yellow first, then Orange and so on, do yours do that too? My favorite has to be salmon and white ones, forgive me as I never know the correct names of each plant I only know they are beautiful.

@CrazyFeathers I just planted some Salmon Star. They look like the stargazers only with salmon centers. Also some black beauty oriental lilies. Those have not come up. Worried. May have to dig around and see if animal dug them or rotted. The pink, orange and yellow all came at once. Must be same variety in different colors. Others are up and budding, some are still emerging. Nice way to extend the beauty.

It is a nice way to extend the beauty but it makes it difficult to make a colorful bouquet . Yes they are called Salmon Stars I think they are my favorite. I planted one plant last year so hopefully I get a few more flowers this year. Keep those pictures coming so I know what other colors I need. LOL Have a good day @Carol Dee.
