My mom has a decorative bush in her front yard and all of a sudden it has these cherry sized hard berries on it. anyone know what it is??

I agree with PhilaGardener, they might be plums. When they look and feel ripe cut one open!! :)

Lot of ornamental trees have a multi trunk variety as well as a single trunk (more traditional tree shape) so it could be any number of things. Many ornamentals will fruit too. My prairie fire crab, as well as my Cleveland pear will bear small fruits like that. The birds like them but they are not edible.
