Killer Cougar

This made me curious. At a zoo a few years ago I was completely blow away by the SIZE of the mountain lions. They were WAY bigger than I expected. And were easily 2x bigger than the cat in this picture. But it doesn't look like a kitten or juvenile...
So now I'm curious. Would simply being kept on a managed diet create such a huge difference??? That would be like a stray pure bred lab ending up the size of the average beagle while it's litter mate growing up in a home reaching 100lbs..
o_O

From what I was told this was a young but mature female.

A good while back ~ I heard and read of a fellow attacked by a mountain~ don't remember the state ~ but ~ he had on his key chain a small dull knife ~ with which he slowly cut the big cat's juggler vein ~ he lost an eye ~ but lived to return home ```

Several years ago, I sold a yearling filly that was about 700+ lbs. in size and was waiting for the owner to pick her up after her physical health exam by a Vet. of their choice and pay for her then . During the night a cougar came through my ranch and killed this filly. Fish and game never found this cougar. Two days later , about 15 miles from our ranch , people couldn't find a week old foal and it's mother was running and calling for her foal. They found it dead and dragged up in an Oak tree about 10 feet off the ground. So, as you can see these cougars can be quite strong. and deadly killers.
