OH, and by the way, I keep my seeds nicely alphabetized in a pretty basket. ONE of my little rugrats (4 footed) decided that they were much too orderly, and should really be sampled and spread out on the floor! Brats! Like I don't have enough problems staying organized!!!!

That is a situation where broadcast planting would do well. Everything gets planted and you get a surprise a day throughout the summer.

Yikes! One more reason I'm glad we don't keep our pets in the house. Used to but when we moved to the new place, all pets became outdoor animals. They're happier and I've yet to find a downside. (Well, ok, when I spill something in the kitchen now *I* have to clean it up.)

You can get a roll of 1,000 blank plant tags with a UV marker from Greenhouse Megastore for like $18 or something like that. That's what I bought last year and they kept the writing on them all season. I ordered more this year.

I have used the markers that are thin enough to bend in a circle, HPQ. If those are the type you are talking about, they worked fine for me.

Usually, I'm using the white plastic ones that are quite a bit stiffer. However, they both only last one season out there in the sun.

The only thing i have found that works all year in the sun with out fading is a rough sided plastic marker and a #4 B pencil.

Do you find a #4 B pencil in the art supply store?

The markers the greenhouse supply places sell use alcohol-based ink. Soaking those "stickers" in rubbing alcohol can remove most of the ink. If the sticker has begun to yellow from the sun, it will break easily. If they were only used in the greenhouse, I can get more use out of them.
