Hey Friends,

As you may have noticed, we’ve been working on importing content from the old Landscaping Forums into a new section here on TEG. The process is mostly complete, but there’s still a bit of cleanup to do, and we’d love your input on how best to organize everything!

Right now, we’re considering a few options:
  • Merging Landscaping Tools & Equipment into Tools & Supplies
  • Merging other “landscaping” sections into Lawns & Landscaping (since there aren’t many posts in those sections)
  • Keeping everything separate for now and adjusting later based on activity

What do you think? Would you prefer keeping landscaping as its own dedicated section, or would merging some of these categories help make the forum more streamlined and active?

Let us know your thoughts! Your feedback will help shape how we move forward. Thanks for being a part of this great community!

The more, the more confusing –– for people to know where to find information and to post.

Too narrowly defined of subforum subjects hasn't been a good thing for other forums that I have visited.

It all risks having a maze that is difficult for members to find their way through, and this must be especially true for someone new to TEG.

Steve's humble opinions

based upon how little i'm going to those other places i would say that currently i would just leave them as is and perhaps even mark them as closed and archives from those previous sites and then encourage people to post to the other TEG forums instead (and if one doesn't exist then it could be created).

this saves a lot of work and potential confusion and doesn't break what i consider the current community.

as a reference, i didn't even notice the recent thread about grading for pavers was in a new or different forum. it just popped up on the what's new list and i replied. that's pretty much how i'm always reading TEG these days.

if people start using the landscaping forums then i'll likely read and reply to new topics or new posts. i am not very likely at this time to go back and read the historical stuff in there. all of those topics are of interest to me, but i just don't have that kind of free time to go burrowing... :)

the other thoughts i have are around how few people are currently searching and replying to existing threads instead they are just creating new ones. i'm ok with what people do as it has been happening as i don't see any editors trying to herd people's new threads into other places and i'm pretty sure most existing people seem to be ok with it too since i don't recall anyone really saying much about moving a thread.

what i am more likely to mention to support is the obvious spammers.
