Last Night Dinner With Dad

I think the whole thing is so sweet. I'm glad you make time to enjoy with your dad like this. You will have such good memories and no regrets.

Cat he doesn't call her girlfriend , he says my friend. He doesn't like to talk about it with me or my sisters. I think he feels its disrespectful of my mom, who passed 7 years ago

When my dad got sick, we found out he has had a lady friend since 2003 that he had not spoken about. She knows everything about us though, even the grandkids' birthdays (which she remembers better than him!)

There is a big difference between them in how they each perceive the relationship though. She believes it is something more than he does. They used to see each other daily at work and now it wears on his nerves that she calls him daily.

She was at the hospital while he was admitted probably more than I, which is saying something, but I was glad to have an extra pair of eyes on him and she would text me if anything came up.

My parents are divorced, but I think he kept it low key for the same reason. He never really got over my mom. But no sense in being lonely. It's good that they have such devoted "friends". ;)

So true journey my father had a cold and stayed in bed for a couple of days. A man called me at work said he goes to senior center my father hadn't been there in couple of days is he ok. When I told my dad he said his friend got a man to call, because she was worried I get upset about a woman. I said tell your friend your allowed woman callers LOL

That's cute. :D

Can't be everywhere at once or all the time, so I'm sure it helps you out too. My FIL always said if you could come to the end of your life and still count your true friends on one hand, you were doing great. (Lady friends included...) As smothered as my dad sometimes feels by all the attention, I'm glad he's got people who care about him.

When Dad became ill us kids where the last to know. Finally his lady friend and the guys he usually fished, walked, coffeed with called and asked *Is something wrong with Fred?*. That is when we got involved and urged him to see Dr.

That is sweet @Nyboy. Spending time with your Dad is time well spent. Laughing over his girlfriend, that's really cute.

My Mom started dating a man 10 years her senior, 4 years after my Daddy died. They stopped by one day to tell me they were getting married the next day. I congratulated them and said that I couldn't come because I was leaving the next morning to go out of state. My Mom told me real quick, "You aren't invited anyway.":lol::lol:

Nyboy, maybe he was just doing it to get a rise out of you. :D

But I can definitely relate to the stated intentions. When I was in the Navy, DW would use some of my flannel shirts as pillow cases while I was gone, bless her heart. She said it was her way of hugging me long distance.:hugs

Most kids no matter how old would feel funny in your situation. But, it's lousy for them to be lonely.
