thank you!

Ron I have never grown dahlias from seeds I honestly never knew you could ? I always grow them from tubers

I feel silly but I do not think i have ever seen a dahlia seed pod?
Ohhh ...then we must teach you girl!

First there is a bee! :bee

Then ...a flower! LOL :rose

Then you close your eyes and it is over! LOL

However, if you watch the bloom head begin to fail, you will notice it is sort of (well i am using this as reference) like a cup containing what looks like the ends of the petals...each one of those little chaffs of debris is attached a seed. If the flower were properly pollinated it will have become a viable seed.

I wait until the bloom head is dried on the plant, this way I know they matured. Then I take the seed head and break it open. The flat seed will have an end of the petal... so might look like chaff. Look carefully and you will see a seed that is reminiscent of a Zinna seed.

There are some good samples of seeds!

I would love to propagate some of your dahlias if you ever get inclined to collect them! :watering
