lemon verbena indoors

Hi,
I brought my lemon verbena plant indoors to spend the winter and was wondering whats the best place to put it, in order for it to keep dormant?
I usually keep it in the basement, maybe theres a better place.

Even while dormant, it should still be kept moist, so I usually hide mine amongst the other houseplants.

Yeah i know to keep it moist, but if i kept it with the other houseplants wouldn't it slip out of dormancy?

I have one on the glass enclosed part of the deck but we had a very hard frost so I am afraid it is lost ..I cut them back and stop watering I have not ever taken one in I should my pinapple sage is a little shell shocked but doing well ..it bloomed as soon as I brought it in and was full of flowers for Thanksgiving
what were the chances? but I will for sure try a few more pots of them next year because it was such a beautiful display

I am going to take my verbena i with the houseplants next year I like that idea thanks

if I do not loose it ..it has such a nice thick bonsai looking trunk now

Nope, they will lose most of their leaves in response to sunlight rather than temperature. They are a tropical plant from a region where "cold night" = ~60 degrees F, so they respond much more to sunlight than to temperature.

I had already brought the lemon verbena down in my basement yesterday. Would it be fine to keep it in the dark? Their's not much sunlight so i dont think it should start to grow there, it should stay dormant there.

It doesn't even have to stay that dark, really--mine stays more or less dormant as soon as it gets less than 11 hours of light per day, and doesn't come back until a couple weeks before the spring equinox. And that's in the house with all my other plants.
