Hummm.... which of my keys is supposed to have a chip? The one that opens the door or the one that starts the engine? ;)

I believe it is the one that starts the engine. DH had a spare cut to open the door. If the keys are locked in the car he has one that will open the door in his wallet!

My truck key opens the door and starts the engine.
No chip thankfully.

Speaking of computerized parts on vehicles, we have a friend that works for a power company. He said they are buying pre- '87 ( I think that's the year)
trucks because they don't have any parts that would be disabled if we had terrorists set off an e-bomb.

the car i'm selling has nothing fancy in it at all. just had two guys come over last night and make an offer, so perhaps i will have it sold Fri or Sat if they actually come back.

Engine not sure what year started. learned hard way when I kept buying new copies for my mountaineer. Key would open door but not start car, I thought keys cut wrong . Then friend told me about chip.

AAA used to provide a plastic key to keep in your wallet. It only opened the door. Never had to use it but they stopped doing that. That's too bad cause I thought it was a great idea.

It was, DH had one cut since they did not provide it. At least you could get into vehicle if you locked keys in it. (Unless you do as I did and lock keys, purse/wallet and phone in it!)
