@majorcatfish I just got caught up on this post. Happy Belated anniversary. Your garden is amazing! So big yet well maintained. How you manage working the hours you do, I will have to give the DW some credit ;) You mentioned blue potatoes, we planted a 1/2 row this year for fun. We will see how they do. We have been taking some of the red and whites along the way. Better to eat them all than to try to store over winter. I have not been successful for 3 winters. :(

yes i do have to give the dw a lot of the credit this summer she has been watering everyone while i have been out of town plus all the caning she has done on top of everything else at the house...
as for the blue potato never planted any potatoes this year it was one or two that over wintered and missed being chopped up by the cultivator.... it will be interesting as well to see what we have as well....

nothing like a fresh potato right out of the garden, as fast as we eat potatoes it's cheaper to buy a 10 lbs bag..

Why pull the basil, indeed?

Honey bees like it too.

And then, they like monarda and that family and fennel. Doesn't it make you wonder what their honey would taste like with diets like that?

Steve ;)

I really don't know about the Galia melons. Diplomat did fine in 2015 but June weather must have really shaken it to the roots! If it fails, it will be the first time I haven't harvested Galia melons in about 10 years. Have to get back to the Passport variety.
I take back any adverse impression I left about the Diplomats.

They have fully recovered and caught up with the cantaloupe. Imma gonna have sooo many melons this year!

:D Steve
