March 8th is my youngest daughter's 4th birthday, so we will be celebrating one special little lady here. :)

"The Bridges of Madison County" is one of my favorite movies too. When I was a newlywed, my husband passed by the room while I was watching it, getting to the good part and I was crying. He jumped out and made a big shout and scared me. Almost ended our marriage. LOL.

Now, how do I get March 8th declared a Woman's Day holiday here in the United States? Your celebration seems like an ideal and much needed break in the cold winter season here in South-est, central-est Wisconsin. Of course, we do have a Mother's Day on a Sunday in May, but not every woman is celebrated that day.

We have a Mother's Day too. But this humble celebration. To get you on March 8, perhaps a woman in the state should unite and agree. Then turn to the senator. He has a wife? I can not even imagine the problems that women are not able to decide if they want to.

In addition, men have always maintained their women. If holiday recognition dobetsya least one state, I think, it quickly spread to the entire country.:D:D:D
It seems you have elections soon?

But I certainly do not know how you it works. But we have areas that have their own holidays. For example, Day of cucumber.

City decided to please us, too. To celebrate the spring festival will be held in all districts of the celebrations. On the Circle Line subway will give flowers to women, even the tickets with congratulations. The city will be decorated with posters and postcards LED. On bridges appear bright flags, on digital billboards will be broadcast video greeting, "You are beautiful!", On the media facades of houses on Novy Arbat bloom flowers and silhouettes spinning in dance. At the Manege Square will show the light show. Each park is something interesting for women. Concerts, beauty workshops, interactive programs. Children will make gifts for moms and grandmothers. Funny competitions for men, for example, running with tulips. At the rink in this festive evening will be a special highlight - flowers bloom under the ice. So many things ... Where to go???

This holiday began with a policy!
1857, March 8, the New York strike workers of light industry, called "Cacerolazo".
1908, 8 March, the same New York rally for equality between men and women, to reduce the working day requirement for women, equalization of pay conditions for women and men, and of women's suffrage.
1910, August 27, Copenhagen, the Second International Socialist Women's Conference, communist Clara Zetkin put forward a proposal to establish the International Women's Day, during which women would be able to hold rallies, attracting public attention to their problems.

The first time simultaneously celebrated Women's Day in 6 countries 8 March fell to 1914, participating countries: Russia, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland.
In our time, a holiday devoid of politics, fortunately.
@digitS' Well, just refresh one's memory of it! You can congratulate March 8 their loved women. If such a tradition will be brought up in a household, who knows? Perhaps it will be your national holiday, too. After all, it all started from you! :);)
