Well, I will be taking it easy at work for sure. I'm not going to be allowed out of the office building. Walking cast is not compatible with going into the plant.
I still want to get my garden trellis up and chicken wire around base of the storage shed. Feral cat and other things are using it as a den space.

My apple tree is starting to branch out after the topping cut. Lots of branch buds opening up.

Got the trellis up and my helpers planted strawberries. Not sure if they will grow cause the tops were rotted.

It just hailed for a bit before turning to pouring rain! Hopefully not too much damage to garden.

if the crowns themselves were not rotted they may recover ok. just look for new green leaves starting to poke up from the crown.

After googling what the crown is, I think they will be okay. That section of the plant was firm and I managed to plant them about the right depth. They are 10 pack of eversweet and a 10 pack of sequoia from Tractor Supply for $10 total so won't be too heartbroken as long as a few come up.

good to hear! i love fresh strawberries. i used to have three large patches and could pick them for my own use and still have plenty to give away (and have other people come over to pick them). eventually we covered up one large patch out back and then the other one got overgrown and i've not been able to convince myself to replace it until i get a fence up to protect that garden. the deer found them and have eaten the plants regularly so not much of a harvest from there any more until i do get the fence up and then the plants restored. i hope this spring i can get the fence up and get started on the rest of it. not sure yet what will happen until it does.

last year i finally finished levelling and re-arranging my first strawberry patch after i had expanded it some years ago. it will be a lot easier to take care of now and i hope my transplants survived the winter. haven't been able to get out and look lately there with the ice, but i think i can look today after the rains and warm we had. this is inside the fenced garden area so the deer haven't been able to get at the strawberry plants.

Planted carrot and cucumbers seeds. Started process of hardening off my seedlings.

Yes, my fruit trees are in 22 gallon containers for two reasons: I'm renting the house and the backyard is full of utility easements. I can and will move the trees up to 275 - 330 gallon IBC containers later if needed. They will join my bird of paradise in my plant collection when we move.

Where ya' moving to? Staying in Baytown and buying your own place? In my younger days, I did a lot of fishing out of Cotton Lake, all the bayous between there and the Trinity river.
