A cane in the garden protects against falls.

Canes in the US Capital have probably done more good than harm. Still, there are examples of extremely bad behavior.

A cane was used to demonstrate in court the shooting in the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. I use a cane when I arrive in a parking lot and wonder, at times, what people think when I pull it from behind the pickup seat.

Adolf Hitler is believed to have killed himself on this date in history. In what seems to me a rather revisionist way of looking at things, Nazi Germany's defeat in WW2 is laid more and more at the feet of Hitler's tampering with military decisions rather than the huge errors in governing under fascism.

The Pennsylvania Dutch aren't quite Dutch, for the most part. Many were German pacifists who began migrating to this country in the very early days of the American colonies. The first Canadian settlements of the Mennonite portion of the "Pennsylvania Dutch" were in 1786.

Belatedly, I changed the oil in the lawnmower, yesterday. I really shouldn't have used both large and small rototillers on one garden bed before changing the oil.

Rambling man.....

Isn't it interesting how different thoughts flit thru our minds? I hate it when they do that at 2:35 a.m. tho.

Mary Gold is the name of the love child on Downton Abbey.

Penn Dutch is on both sides of my family, mixed in with a healthy dose of British properness.

Pennsylvania Dutch on paternal side. . . the reason my maiden name didn't have the C in the German 'Sch' or the D in 'ldt'. Also the reason my name was misspelled so often by folks who knew how German was spelled. Nope, mine was the Penn. Dutch spelling.
