What is really cruel is if by some chance, predators don't get it, (bright colors standout), and it struggles and survives, it is only short term. They are tropical birds, no way can they make it though winter.

Aww...poor birdy. It took a chance flying in your open door, and found a compassionate human.
But as for the other humans, the ones who just let them loose in the wild....they are cruel.

People are cruel but more stupid. Too many think that the animal would be better off free. Not realizing they have no idea how to survive. Then the pet stores show you how cute they are. Then reality sets in.

It is a possibility that it escaped accidentally. At our old house the boys cockatiel got out an open door and took off. Fortunately he went over to our neighbors who had a cockatoo in an outdoor cage for the day.
He wasn't easy to capture, but because he wanted to hang out by the big bird we were able to snag him.

Thistle, I thought the same thing. It probably escaped by accident. I'm sure the owner knew about winter coming and if he/she wanted to get rid of it, they would have posted on CL.

Could have recently been purchased. Also explains why he probably escaped by accident. Owner hasn't had much experience with birds.

I had a parakeet escape once. Cage outside on a calm day, we assume sudden wind knocked the cage off the table, door came open. Junior flew away, but Peety stayed in the cage. When Junior left, he was gone for good. :(
