Mexican oregano budding out FINALLY

I never saw a plant so slow to bud out in the Spring as the Mexican oregano. Every year I almost give up on it and think it's died off but almost into Summer it finally gets going. It has more bite than the mediteranean oreganos and since it's a bush it doesn't try to take over the garden. It also stores well and keeps a good kick even when it's been dried and in a jar for several years. It has a strong flavor to it so a little goes a long way.

How big does the bush get? I use alot of oregano in spag sauce, lasagna, greek salad, etc. I wonder how cold hardy it would be. I planted regular oregano and greek oregano and the greek did not come back after winter.

Jojo- I would try to plant oregano again. I'm in zone 4, and mine has always come back....the last two years it has been trying to take over the world!

According to the books it will get to 3 feet but mine never gets more than knee high. It's too frost tender to grow outdoors in your area but it grows well indoors in a bright place. Here is an article I found on growing it in pots (thank you Google)
