I have a tiny baseball size one on the vine, but most the others that started died because this thing was sucking the life out of them LITERALLY!

I can't believe we ate some and it actually could have used more ripening time! Hahahaha

This was a volunteer, and I found the plant growing the beginning of May I think. I'd have to look back, I found it when we were digging up potatoes earlier in the season since it was growing out from the walkway next to that raised bed.

Wow vfem, that must have been fun keeping an eye on that watermelon. Did they also do well for you last year? I was wondering if they were any good. I just LOVE watermelon. Too bad it's not hot enough here. BTW can you send me a few seeds enough for a hill? My sister lives in a hot climate and I bet she could grow them. Maybe I'll ask her to grow them for me and we can split the harvest.

Yeah Mary, I just listed the seeds as a give away to anyone who wants them. I did get these from you originally anyways, and well worth it!

Last year my biggest one was maybe 10 lb... no where NEAR as nice as this one did.

Tells us more about how it tasted. Was it really, really good? Juicy and not mealy? Oh, I so hope it wasn't that good because I would have loved some! :fl Over here, I can't seem to find good ones. They are always bland and mealy. Why do you think this one grew as big as it did? Maybe you can repeat the conditions for next year.
