Easter my father and I went to the cemetry. Everywhere you looked where potted Easter lilies, thousands of them, family put them on graves. They are hardy in my zone, I have a few from passed Easters. I keep wondering what happens to all of them when done flowering. I almost called but felt that was kind of ghoul like. Wonder if they have a dumpter, wonder if I have the nerve to dive it.

LOL, yeah, seriously! I would struggle with that too. It's hard to let those lilies go to the dumpster for no good reason. If I were going to put live bulbs on a grave, I'd just go ahead and plant them so they could come back again year after year. I occasionally see where someone has planted daffodils, crocus, peonies, etc. Usually in older cemeteries. The newer, bigger ones tend to have more regulations, anything to make mowing easier. I think that planting them would be much nicer than leaving them in a pot to dry out or be thrown away.

Yeah, enquiring minds want to know!

By the way - at my church, people donate Easter lilies in memory or honor of family to decorate the sanctuary. They are supposed to take them home - but a few weeks after Easter there are always several sad little ones stuffed in a corner somewhere that got left. The last few years they have ended up in the center of my iris bed. Here in VA they don't bloom till mid June - but they are lovely!
