Yeah, I agree. Any more than 2 would be too much. As empty as it will look when the seedlings are small, you have to remember how much bigger they get when they mature.

Hmm...I could jam pack some contender beans in one of the spaces and get more bang for the space and free up some room in the big patch. Squash would take up too much room in the raised bed too...because the dirt I got for the bed is highly fertile and if you have too fertile of ground those squash leaves will get big! I have had squash leaves in the past 3 feet in diameter and stems nearly 3" around only to have just a few squash. Maybe I could put my canteloupe and/or okra in the other one.


By the way, I have blooms on my pear tree now, wish it was a bartlett pear.

What kind of squash are you doing? I have read that even pumpkins can be grown up a (very sttong) trellis. I'm going to do my summer squash vertically this year the same way I do my cucumbers. It would give you a lot more room in the garden if you could get the vining plants off the ground.
