Deeply Rooted
Two things that might help if you are stuck having to get them out a bit early like this:
-- warm the soil first with clear plastic (on the whole area of soil, not little cloches which will make virtually no lasting difference, being a tiny dot surrounded and underlain by vast tracts of still-cold soil);
-- and use cardboard boxes to cover them at night, rather than cloches. (To avoid them starting to overheat *at all* in the a.m., and better protect them at night.) Put a brick on each box so it doesn't blow away, and drape a sheet or whatever over it if cold is scheduled.
Good luck,
Pat
