What tunes do you remember on when you garden? When I was young, during the upper Paleolithic, I used to open my bedroom window and set the radio so it faced out to listen to the music while working in my garden.
Not a major Elvis fan, but Kentucky Road still reminds me of those days, then there were some James Taylor tunes, Simon and Garfunkel songs, and mid 60's Beatles songs like Eleanor Rigby. That one still reminds me of the heirloom Daffodil, Allium, and Callas I found growing in the creek downstream from Burbank's gardens.

Hmm, that's all before my time. I'm more along the lines of The Cure, Madonna, NKOTB, Men at Work... throw in some big hair ballads and I'm right back in my childhood. :hide What can I say, I was a child of the 80's? You had much better music than I did as a kid. (Eleanor Rigby is my favorite Beatles song!)

well, even though i'm not as old, i still like to listed to the Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, a lot of singer/songwriter stuff from the 60's and 70's. along with swing music like Benny Goodman, Jack Dempsy Tommy Dorset. i also love a lot of rock n' roll and blues, but i love a lot of instrumental stuff when i work, things that have a lot of harmony to them. i like Boston and ELO. but one of my favorite artist to listen to while working is Joe Satriani who does a lot of guitar work (he's now part of Chicken Foot but used to do his own stuff for many years). Eric Johnson is also a good guitarist that used to be one of Joe's students and he really shows it well!

if you couldn't tell, i was raised with a lot of different music styles in my life growing up. dad was the big lover of music in the house and i think it ran in his side of the family along with the gardening bug.

I'm glad you brought this up. I always put on music when I'm doing major house cleaning. Now I guess I'll have to bring the ipod & speakers into the garden when I'm working there!

Marshall, you have lived around (and lived long . . ;)) in that area where you are now, eh?

I am nearly deaf so have to use headphones to even appreciate some R & B. Still, I enjoy it and have been re-introducing myself to music the last few years :p.

The song that has been running thru my mind in the garden for a couple of season now, has been Sam Cooke's song "You Send Me" -- "Darling, yoooooouuuuuuu send me. I know yoooooouuuuuuu send me. Darling, yoooooouuuuuuu send me. Honest, you do. Honest, you do, Honest, you do."

By the way, Marshall. I don't think it is too late to get tickets to see the Wonderettes: www.lutherburbank.org

If'n you click that link you will learn about those ladies singing some songs that I remember . Included is even one by Sam Cooke, "Cupid" . . !

Steve ;)

Turn up the Country Music :woot , that's the only music I like listening to. Surprised not that many people hear listen to country. I must admit it, Their is nothing like gardening and hearing country it goes perfect with working outdoors.

Luke Bryan, Josh Turner, Tim McGraw to name a few! ;)

I hate to say it... just came in from the garden. The whole time I was out there, I was humming Christmas Carols! Yikes, what is that about! Up in the rooftop....

I prefer it to be quiet...my DH will blast away my eardrums if he is out helping but if I am all by my self I meditate while I work...
