Greenthumb, I'm with you! While I do like Classic Rock, Country is king at my house! Love to crank the tunes while cleaning, driving, or working outside.

Peace and Quite! It is noisy in town. Always voices or music from the neighbors. And LOUD. So .... since the garden is out of town and no close neighbors I enjoy the quite! shhhh

Well, thistle... if that is the case, it is deep, deep in my subconscious! I'm afraid it was one of those, "I've got a tune playing in my brain, and I can't turn it off!" Other than the occasional Christmas Carol- I prefer and long for the peace and quiet of gardening!

You know, now that I think about it, if I'm gardening in the morning I tend to prefer the peace and quiet of our "out in the sticks" property, but if it's later in the day I tend to crank the tunes. Hmmm.

I always enjoy the quiet, too. It's kind of strange because I love music so much. But never in the garden, the bee yard, with the animals, or out at the lake. I have tinnitus very bad and as the years pass it gets worse.

The birds, toads, crickets, wind, and of course the animals are my outdoor music.

I have tinnitus too. Ears've been ringing since 1977. I know, the ringing in my ears is older than a lot of folks. Lol! Up here in the quiet winter months, all the solitude, I have actually realized a few years back that the ringing is actually about 4 separate rings in each ear! Yea, and that the pitch, the musical notes, can change, each one.

So, :old ole me, never one to be bored, decided to see if I can train the rings to become music! YEA! Turns out, each one of them rings can change notes at will! Kind of like a pipe organ! After several years of practice, that ringing in my ears can play tunes. I am not kidding!

The docs at the VA hospital in Montana some years ago gave me some medicine that was supposed to get rid of the ringing in my ears. Ha! Those pills did absolutely nothing. I mean, nothing. They had less effect than sugar pills. Sugar pills might have calories or something.

Right now this ringing is playing a Bee Gee's tune.

I have a sense of humor about my tinnitus if ya haven't noticed. I don't just say "what'd ya say?" if someone did not speak clearly or loud enough to hear anymore. I say instead, "Ya have to talk louder than the music that's playing in my head if ya want me ta hear ya."

The radio is on in the barn 24/7 for the cows. Always country music. So whenever we are outside, we hear it. Now the cows didn't tell us that they prefer Country Music over anything else, it was just an assumption on our part! Sometimes when we go outside and look in the barn, two of the cows are spooning. So I think they find it pretty romantic.

When I'm outside working in the garden or with the chickens, it is ALWAYS soul and reggae music! Al Green, Barry White, The Four Tops, Barrington Levy, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye- stuff like that. During the hot late summer months it's mostly reggae because it brings me back to my trip to Mexico, and I like to pretend i'm there relaxing with a cold drink in my hand

Sometimes I will put on the headphones, like when I have a major weeding job to do and know I'll be spending a fair amount of time at it. I like pretty much everything but country (sorry!) but right now I'm particularly into some electronic/house type stuff. I know - strange!
