I picked these on Monday night, a ton of them were just about dry, and some were still green. As of today most of them have yellowed and begun to dry. I am doing these in the bathroom on a screen so they get good air flow above and below.

I got about a gallon of beans in the pods. I planted 20 beans, only 14 ended up producing. So this is just an idea to show others what they could get from planting a patch. When they are dry I will get out the beans and weight how much I got from the 14 plants.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how many I can get and how many more I may need next year. I love black beans in my salsa! That's what I did with my last harvest I didn't plant.

Actually, Wifezilla sent me 4 beans in the spring... only 1 sprouted. I saved the seeds from that 1 and planted some for this harvest. I ate the rest in some salsa I made... one jar of that is getting entered into the State Fair in October!

Where Wife got them, I do not know!?

Congratulation V, looks like salsa at your place may be just about entirely from your garden soon!

Wow! Two complete generations in one season.

I can't think of a single plant where I could do that . . . not even a radish .

And imagine, Dad was born south of the Mason-Dixon line and spent half of his life moving north!

All that got me 10 oz of dried beans, we shelled them today. There are maybe 2 1/2 cups of beans. Not bad actually. With a family of 3, that is a nice addition to about 3 meals. :thumbsup

More then likely most of this will end up in several jars of salsa. My salsa comes almost exclusively from my garden as Steve said, I just add the lime juice or vinegar depending on the recipe. All the veggies and herbs come from my own garden.

I planted some lentils from the grocery store. They sprouted nicely and are blooming now. I just did it to see what would happen.
