DH says a metal cut off wheel on a grinder would be a better tool for cutting that type of metal or steel.
Try a rental center, home depot, Northern Tools... Walmart sells them too, but not sure what size would be best for your needs.
If you lived closer I'd send him over with a jack hammer (his choice solution also) ... he's very good with demolition... believe me ... :hide ...

He said to be sure to wear eye protection ... this comes from experience.

Vinyl concrete patcher will fix to concrete well, but a dent in the slab would probably make it more secure and permanent.

Good Luck!

Thanks--that's what I bought and used. It came with a grinder wheel, too--I had to purchase the cutting wheel separately. YES, I wore safety glasses--I appreciate the advice on that, too--and I asked how to best use it: the clerk at the hardware store told me to not push it, but, instead, to shave right and left, as if I was polishing it. I have to hold the power ON, so I took numerous breaks to keep my focus, because I have a lot of respect for power equipment!! I'll investigate the vinyl concrete patcher. I'll probably see if the grinder wheel can shave them down to level with the cement.

WISH you lived closer--I'm a great cook, you see, AND all of my 4 horses are safe-broken--great turnout area to ride....so, if Illinois seems like a good vacation place this summer...well, let me know!

ninnymary, thanks for the goodwill! :hugs

Okay, ... I guess DH thought you were using some type of saw.
He said the cut off wheels usually rip through steel rebar pretty easy, but sounds like you have some type of plate.

Dang! If I could get a vacation this year! ...
What a deal THAT would be .. DH could bash cement .. and I could eat good and ride!!
I love riding, I'm a rotten cook! ... but I can mix up a perfect batch of concrete :D

I hope it goes better for you!:hugs
