Nice photo, nice tree.
I fear my Turkey is toast after last year's drought. I have it inside waiting for some sign of spring growth although it's a bit early for here. I have a trading friend who has promised to send me two cuttings of other fig plants she has. I sure hope my fig-abilities improve - she has already sent one that dried/died last summer. Sigh!
Wish I had the courage to plant my baby (assuming I still have one) outside. I've read that the Turkey fig can be overwintered here in zone 5 with a little extra effort.

Red for many years my father had a fig tree planted in the yard in NY. He dd have to protect it in winter, some kind of wrap.

I bought some fig cuttings from someone on another garden site a few years ago..Magnolia, Violet De Bordeaux, Brunswick, Lattarula and Desert King.. They arrived in good shape and the scions were still green. I wrapped the scions in damp paper towels and then damp newspaper. I placed them in a sealed plastic bag and put them in a warm place. After a few weeks, I started to see a few roots on a few, and transferred those to a 26 0z, plastic cup filled with a good rooting medium with holes for drainage.. Well I dont know what happened, but the roots on the figs did not thrive..The rest of the figs did not get any roots whatsoever..So they all went to fig heaven..I dont know what I did wrong, as I made sure to follow the instructions, and pics, to the tee, for how to propogate the fig cuttings.. That was money down the tube.. I want to try again someday, but try with only a few.. I would overwinter them in my unheated GH..
Oh I also bought some Ben Mor Black Current scions from the same person.. I was told it was easy to propogate currents..I scewed up somewhere and they died on me too...So sad.. lol
