Rex rabbits are supposed to be a medium sized rabbit but my buck didn't read that book (or didn't believe it.) He's huge; way too heavy to pick up. Good thing too. He loves to be talked to and petted and goes nuts when I sing to him but he'll fight like a tiger if you try to pick him up. If I ever have to doctor him I'll have to wear a suit of armor. A rabbit that size could do a lot of damage. To give you an idea on size that cage is 36 inches long. He got so big I had to put another cage beside it and cut doors for him to run back and forth.

In spite of his size and strength he isn't a bit rough with the does. He's without a doubt the best buck I ever had. I'd love to see where he'd place in a show but since he won't be handled that's out. I don't think a judge with ripped up arms would give him a high mark.

They are all beauties! Hard to imagine they wouldn't want to cuddle- but I will take your word for it!

Do you have to cut their nails?
I have to trim my does nails now and then but the buck is so active, running between his cages and jumping up and down his shelves (one in each cage) That the ends of his nails break off by themselves when they get too long. I guess they hook around the wires in the cage bottom. So far it's just the ends that break off but I keep an eye on his feet to be sure he doesn't pull out a nail. So far, so good.
