I love orchids and they love me. I had to give away a bunch when we were inbetween states. Now I have three left and in the new place, there is simply NO PLACE with bright enough light to grow them.

I got one as a gift a couple of months ago and know next to nothing about their care. It's on my to do list. The flowers are beginning to fall which makes me sad. It has been so very enjoyable to look at.

I love orchids when in flower. Right now I have a vase of cut orchids gift from client. Once they are finished flowering I give away

Those Are absolutely incredible! That is a very generous gift. My orchid has sentimental value. It will break my heart if I kill it. Although maybe rehoming it would be a good option. I can go just about anything in the yard but houseplants? They have to be able to fend for themselves for the most part.

Most orchids are killed by over loving them. They can not take wet roots, most are planted in bark for fast drainage.

And because in the wild most are epiphytes, growing ON trees not in the ground.

My friend in key west wires them to palm trees in his backyard

Orchids are the only gardening I have done in Florida. I brought about 6 plants down in my suitcase and tied them to my palm tree. That's it. They are growing now. Still haven't bloomed, but I am sure they will. My daughter has tied them up, and sworn they were dead- only to have them bloom. That's my kind of gardening!
