DS went to the chiropractor today. Last week no masks but today masks and sign asking people who come in to wear one if they have one. Some girl on Facebook marketplace was selling masks and was attacked how greedy for selling and she should give away. People are making them free from Joann who is giving the material and elastic for free and already cut and you sew and donate to hospitals. I was going to make some to donate but then read one of the hospitals said they could not take them. I have very little elastic, but now see places asking for them, and I think I am going to make all of us one and extras. They will come in handy if we have forest fire smoke again this year. I also am going to wear when handling the potting soil and cleaning the woodstove out, and even the rabbit hutch. I am going to be careful with my lungs. I have been toying around with having an Etsy store and selling small items and I crochet dishrags and scrubbies and I have made a couple of rag quilts and it is fun to make, so I check Etsy now and then for ideas and was SHOCKED to see people selling page after page of masks and 20 people having the masks in their carts.

Score! I found a 4 pack of face masks in a cabinet. I keep them around for when we clean out the horse barn or sheep barn because of the dust. I also had our two n95 masks from last time we cleaned out the barn. We gave our daughter a mask, she was going to the grocery store.

75 cases in our county now.

The other day on my way home from work I made a stop at Home Depot. I had been putting it off for a week or so but stopped last Friday to get supplies. I was in the fastener isle looking at all the choices when my throat felt dry and scratchy and i knew I was about to cough. So I tried to make it sound like I was clearing my throat into my jacket but it basically sounded like a cough lol. The only person in the isle with me was a younger guy about 6’-8’ away, when it happened and he looked over at me and pulled his tshirt up over his mouth and nose and stalked off. I take some blood pressure meds and one of the side effects is a cough believe it or not ,sheesh. We have been staying home and not going anywhere except work and occasional trip for food supplies and such. Now they want everybody to wear masks because they now think it spreads through air vapor, would have been nice to know a couple months ago. Lucky I have some 95s out on the shop. Anyway you all take care and have a roll of lifesavers handy in case you have to go in somewhere.

yeah, this time of the year with all the pollen in the air i'm usually bringing crud up from my lungs and wheezing a bit. i would not want to be out in public now if i can help it. keep safe there collector!

Some facilities are sterilizing masks with hydrogen peroxide. The method being used was to turn the peroxide into a mist using an ultrasonic humidifier, then place the masks in a chamber above it. Supposedly, this has little impact on the integrity of either mask or elastic. I'll probably do the same if push comes to shove, since I only have 10 masks, and plenty of peroxide purchased before panic set in.
microwave a few seconds?

I doubt that microwaving would sterilize the mask before it destroyed it. Microwaves seem to be less effective in killing small things. How do I know this? Ants got into a coffee cake that I purchased last week, and I tried microwaving the package to kill them. The coffee cake got hot, but some of the ants were still moving. :ep In the end, it was steam from the coffee cake that killed them, not the microwaves.

Cosmo, I started watching but it was too slow going. Can you paraphrase it?

Mary

i'm watching the first short version first.

he looks like he's been through a really tough time, my heart goes out to him. in the intro he almost breaks up.

ok, really, it doesn't take that long to watch the short version.

i don't want to paraphrase or misquote him.

the longer version i'm going to have to wait to watch it.
