Need advice on holly bushes

I didn't know that about the warning not to plant next to a building. I don't have hollies of my own, but take care of a property that has had them planted against a southern wall for 16 years and have had no trouble as far as I know.

I do detect a problem with your pollination requirements Ducks, your male will apparently be blooming after the females, so you may not get berries unless they overlap.

Yeah...I also read that it will grow 12 ft tall, too!! I think I'm either gonna ask my neighbors if they want it OR, put it beyond the horse fencing as a wind break.
Still, the China Girls are the right height, and I can probably find a China Boy next year.

The ultimate size may be 12 feet if left to it's own devices, but hollies are easily maintained at a lower height. They take well to hedging.

Well, THAT's nice to know. Still got that different seasons breeding thing going on. Aw, nuts!! I'll just see if either my neighbor wants it, or I can figure out a good place for it. They are on 2 acres--family owned, they rent--and they might want this for a hedge on the border with the corn field. OR, I might want to put it outside of my horse fencing next to the corn field bc the farmer who has been hired to manage the acres keeps taking more of the grass edgeway.
