Hi! I also belong to the BYC forum and one of the members there directed me here. I hope you can help me ID this plant. I think it's a perennial. I received it from a friend. All I have are leaves. :idunno
Edited to read the leaves are soft and slightly fuzzy.

Here is a pic!
Thanks for any help :)

First, :welcome

Is this plant wild or is it something that was planted as an ornamental?

The leaves remind me of Fragrant Sumac (Rhus aromatica). I've seen it around here occasionally in MI planted as a spreading groundcover.

First off, thanks for the welcome!
Nope. The leaves are soft and velvet-y like. I hope I can find out what it is.
Anybody else have an idea? :idunno

Thanks!

It kind of looks like Columbine. Aquilegiea canadensis has so many cultivars that they leaves and flowers can look a bit different. But, it looks like columbine to me.

No, I know what columbine or Aquilegia is. I have those. The leaves are not soft and velvety on aquilegia. These leaves are.

Trifolia is a very common leaf conformation. It will be very difficult to ID without seeing the flower.
