wife does not drive. It is easy to say replace him, but not easy to find replacement who is resilable, honest, hard working talented .Heck I have hard time finding people who show up every day on time. I and pay well. Good employees are not easy to replace. He has been with me over 10 years I do have loyalty to him, like I said he s a good person who made a mistake.

I suggest getting another employee to pick him up in the morning, or, as was said, he could take Uber or a bus.
I know it's not your responsibility, but this DUI could start an avalanche and he could end up out of a job, split with wife, out of his home. I have seen it happen. I have seen people lose their "life" just from having a flat tire: no cash to get it fixed, can't get to work, gets fired, lose car/apartment due to no income, wife leaves, sues for child support, etc, etc, etc. Of course it usually takes some willful neglect on their part, but if their spirit is broken, it can happen.

He is probably beating himself up right now, and needs a break.

Not to say it is all up to you, but if you value him as an employee, I say help him find a way to work through this.

Or replace him if he can't get to work. Or is he the only qualified groomer in area? He can do as the Indiana DUI's do. Moped....

out here you know who has had their license pulled for what ever reason... they are riding mopeds... but the state said no mopeds on state highways since they can do only 35, so you see them on every side road......

@Nyboy there is loyalty to a point, but when it starts interfering with business then you have to make a very big decision ........

Well, not your responsibility for sure, but it just depends how badly you want to keep him on.

Do they have blow boxes as an option in your state? Maybe he could request that. It is a machine that is installed in the car. You have to blow into it and it registers if you are clean or ignition won't start. My brother had one years ago.

Blow boxes sound great but drunks get someone else to blow into it.

@Nyboy We all need to help out others, keep on. I trust you now whether this drinking is habitual or one time thing. If he needs a drink, introduce him to AA.

I have had friends with blow and go in their cars it cost like $200.00 per month around. Here. He also might be able to get occupational license where he can drive to and from work. Hope it isn't to far out of your way . If you could get someone to get him there couple mornings per week so you can get your running around and errands done. Maybe he may have to uber a couple mornings a week.if you get the app it will tell you the fair for the ride. May be cheaper than you think.

I admire your kind heart and loyalty to your employees, NY. :hugs Don't know how far away he lives from your shop, but I've seen some really neat motorized bicycles around these parts that can go at a quick pace out there on the roads. Something tells me this is not his first offense or they wouldn't be removing his license altogether.

How long will he be without license to drive? Just until he completes the classes?
