Agreed, she should not be getting free boarding. NOBODY appreciates free and, IMHO, few people appreciate a good barter. I refuse to barter anything. I have started for the last 2 years to hire help to get my hay put up in the loft, and other small jobs. I pay $20.00/hr and the guys that I continue to hire are reliable. They get paid fully by the half hour, even if they finish early. I do not feel gipped bc I know who to call to arrange for help and I make plans weeks ahead of time.
I suggest that you eat this bill, and start toDAY charging her fully for boarding. Just like a marriage when one party is deceased the commitment ends. If you try to charge her NOW for the boarding, she will balk. If you demand payment for the veterinairy service, she will claim that she verbally wanted none, and if you take her to small claims court for this bill, SHE will win.

Business is business and you don't give anything away for free, especially to those who can pay. I hope you get the courage to start charging her for everything. Like Cane says, it's a privilege for her to be one of your clients.

I just can't stand ungrateful people. And that BS about traveling for 22 hours is just that. I traveled for 26 hours when I came back from Bali and I sure wasn't rude to anyone.

I hope things start getting better for you Nyboy. You've got some negative energy swirling around you. :hugs

I have learned to save receipts she paid me what I laided out. Midnight you are so right about different classes. I found the best tippers are the working middle class. They will also pay a bill imminently, the rich will forget about a bill till the next time they need you. 2 years ago my cleaning lady was given a maltpoo puppy from a family she worked for who did not want any more. She is very proud of her dog and brings it in for grooming once a month. I never charge her, after 2 years of not paying she will still ask me for the bill when she picks up. Because she asks to pay I don't feel like I am taken for granted. The wealthy woman today never asks if there is a bill just assumes it is on the house.

That's the difference from one who appreciates what you do and is grateful for it. The other, just thinks she's entitled to it.
