Even the smallest patio or porch can boast a crop of vegetables or a garden of flowers in containers. Planter boxes, wooden barrels, hanging baskets and large flowerpots are just some of the containers that can be used. The container gardener is limited only by his imagination. ;)

Thank you all for the help!

S.O. Brought it to my attention we could plant some of the cucumbers and tomatoes along the side of our house against the house, I really am so new to this, How do I prepare the ground or am thinking maybe raised beds? I seen some I think they were 53" tomato cages at walmart, would these work for the Tomatoes and cucumbers? I could probably plant the onions and peppers at the side of the house too. We have land for a garden, but we only moved here in November and still are setting up where this and that will go, so really didn't want to venture into fooling with that just yet. However, this would work!

Looks like I have some forum reading and browsing to do!

In containers you really want to use soilless potting soil. You'll want to give it a bit of bone meal or one of the boxed mixes, never any kind of overdose though. too little is better than too much. Always.

Ensure there are plenty of drain holes, and set on 2x4's if need be. Most will wnt as much sun as possible.

Plants in containers will need to be watered daily, and in june july and august, daily just about without fail.

You'll do good!

:welcome, noahsmom!
I've gardening for awhile and this year I'll be adding container gardening. There are many vegetables that do well in a container. I am "potting" this year:
1) onions
2) spinach
3) radishes
4) lettuce
This will be for early starts--I have onion sets in pots in my south facing cement window wells--and for growing some cool weather crops in the mid summer, like lettuce, which will be in my north facing window wells.
Happy gardening!
One more thing--buy potting soil and use it bc you won't have to weed.
