How do you like my new avatar. Since we sold Suzy to a guy down the street, I figured I needed a new avatar. It's my Blue Wheaten Ameraucana Rooster, Levi. ;)

When I started out of the house to take pictures for you guys, I noticed Aden my Production Black hen on the back porch and snapped a picture and she followed me all around the yard. I kept taking pictures of her.

Chickens are funny, I finally realized what she was after. The wrist strap on my camera. She would peck my leg to get me to look down. lol

No chicken . . . maybe it is a chicken in your 'puter but looks like Suzy the mule, to me ;).

Tell me about your Production Black --- Sex-link aren't they?

I did some reading about them several years ago. There is something about California Grey in the story but I can't quite recall.

Sure looks like a chicken to me. ;) And a pretty one too. Wish I could have a rooster.

Definitely something weird.

Aden (I'm calling a Production Black) was one of the first chickens I got at Tractor Supply many moon's ago (2.5 years ago). She is a wonderful chicken, still lays 3 eggs a week. They are white, she's never been broody, and her eggs are HUGE!! She did go through a bad molt last year and took about 3 or 4 months off laying. When she started laying I got 5 to 6 eggs a week for at least a year before she had a small molt for about 1 to 2 months. I believe Ideal calls them Production Blacks and another hatchery has California Greys. Same concept, Leghorn over barred production quality hen. I know the girls look just like barred rock chicks, except smaller and greyish. I think I might still have a picture of her when she was a baby.

On my sons hand, he would have just turned 5 at the time we got them. Seems like a long time ago. I brooded my first chicks in the spare bathroom. lol
