vfem, I feel for you. :hugs I had 20 chicks in a dog kennel in my formal living room. I had started on a brooder cage for them, but because of cold and rain, it didn't get finished........... They finally got big enough that our grand daughter and I built them a small A-frame coop and put it in the run with a nice warm light bulb in it for them. I had to close off the run to the 8 layers to keep them from whipping the tail feathers off the little ones. It seems I never learn.......now have 7 SLW chicks in the utility room.....

I wish you luck, I'm losing it! I have 6 chicks in my bathtub who are 7 1/2 weeks old already and 4 Cornish x who are 4 weeks old in a bin on my bathroom counter. Its been FREEZING night after night and I haven't put them outside yet. It STINKS and I keep cleaning to no avail! I wanted to move the birds out tonight, but its going to be down to 30 again tonight. UGH!

Hubby needs to fix my tractor coop because the top door broke off, and with the cold and rain and WIND he's had no time to work on it.

I want these birds OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :barnie
O M G! That makes me so glad to have the coop done. The weather here has bee at least 10-20 below normal for 16 days straight and is supposed to stay there until Saturday when it will only be 8-10 below normal, then right back down into the upper 30's, lower 40's again with lows in the 20's overnight.

Ok this post totally made me lose it, so I went and got the meat birds moved into the quarantine pen. I set up a crate in there for them, and some temp wind blockers (its so darn windy!). If they can make it through tonight, we're good.

If not.... the meat birds cost me all of $8, and I'll just buy more in a month or so. I learned my lesson. Too early in the year for chicks!!!!

Oh no! I didn't mean to drive you over the edge! I couldn't imagine what you were going through with those meat birds in a small space. I had nine in the barn and they stunk it up in a week. I felt so bad for you having to keep them indoors and the mess you were putting up with from those nasty critters. It just made me so glad that I had other options. I'm sorry :(
