Garden Master
I feel a little like this with the vine borers. They seem like an enormous problem. I remember reading that there was a couple of instances of them showing up in central Washington. We are probably lucky to have so much of a buffer with mountains and the arid land in their rainshadow. I wonder where else in the world this pest is, and isn't.
Butternut, C. moschata rates a #1 for resistance on that extension list. I could be fairly happy with them if that squash would do just a little better for me. I grow Early Butternut now and then but do have a maxima preference. I just brought one of the last two Sweet Meat (Oregon Homestead) up from the basement. It's time but they are holding up well, despite it not being such a good year for the squash/pumpkins in the 2017 garden.
