Fionn,

Welcome! I also set up a tunnel but it is just an early spring affair. It is over the garden beds south of my backyard greenhouse. Both tunnel and greenhouse are about the same size and about the same size as yours! You can do a forum search for what I usually call a hoop house. There will also be me talking about a "shed attached hoop house." I've had that in my neighbor's yard for several spring seasons, recently.

It is -16°C (3°f) here this morning. I'm sure it is freezing inside the greenhouse and there's no plastic film over those beds right now (although there is a frame for a window at one end and a door frame at the other ;)).

Steve

Welcome to our gardening family ChickenGrass/Fionn. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and learning about your gardening methods. My daughter went to Ireland last year and she loved it. Kerrygold sponsored her and she took beautiful pictures of farmlands right by the coast.

Hi ninnymary/ Mary.
Thank you for your welcome.
Today I pulled weeds and prepared 3 raised beds in the polytunnel.
Tomorrow I should get the last 5 done.
I will post pictures when I get them done.
On my iPad I can't post pictures so I will try on the computer.
Or can I not post pictures here because I don't have enough posts?
Thank you,
Fionn.

In the reply box, do you see "Upload a File," Fionn?

If so, you can post a picture from your computer files.

You will be asked to Choose a File. That image will begin uploading and when it is in the TEG gallery, you can choose Thumbnail or Full Image.

Hi there and thank you for your welcome.
diditS thank you for your help.
Tomorrow I will try post some pictures.
I also have another question.
I planted some potatoes last April.
I'm not sure of variety but the raised outdoor bed they were in got
Overrun with grass so i let them to their own accounts.
I was digging over the bed the bed today and I found lots of potatoes.
There are no holes and the potatoes are still firm and look like,
They should.
Would they be safe to eat?
Thank you,
Fionn.

Hello and welcome from South-est central-est Wisconsin.

Yes, as long as your potatoes were under the soil and have no green skins from the sun, your potatoes are safe to eat. Here it is very cold through the winter and potatoes do not survive the frozen grounds of winter gardens. In the year 2013 we had an unusually warm winter. In the spring I found potatoes growing as volunteers from tubers that were forgotten or missed during harvest. They were even more delicious because of the surprise finding them.

I am happy to get to know you and your Irish garden. Glad to have you growing with us.

Hi there and thank you for your welcome.
I have 1 row of potatoes dug up and the other row is still there.
It is an outdoor bed that I forgot to mention in the first post.
I will get 6 drills about 8 foot into the raised bed.
I will do 3 rows of first earlies in March and then plant 3 rows of
A main crop later in the year.
I am looking forward to eating the potatoes I have :drool
I will let you know how I get on.
