I lost one of the kennels guys. I have nothing bad to say about him, sorry to see him go. Groomer had friend looking for work, I normally don't like hiring friends but decided to give a try. Yesterday was suppose to be his first day. He told groomer he was sick will be in tomorrow. He showed up at 7:55 quit at 8:45. Did not like being outside in this weather. Less then a hour new record here.

We had a new hire a few months ago. Hired to be an equipment operator on a landfill. Spent a week in the office working through all the training videos and such. Spend 5 hours on the landfill his first "real" day. Clocked out for lunch, never came back.
Eventually I heard that he had said that he had no idea it would be so much trash and smell ..... o_O

Dad was a rural mail carrier. They hired a sub driver that loaded up his vehicle his 1st day. By noon he was back and tossing it all back into the P.O. he was DONE. Never saw him again. Really? I can not imagine taking a job and not knowing what it will involve. Then quitting before the 1st day is over. How RUDE. Sorry @Nyboy sure hope you can find a GOOD replacement soon.

Sounds about like this generation. Makes for easy to find jobs for my own boys, as a lot of the guys their age won't work or are on drugs and can't pass the drug test. Most have DUIs even, so they are not allowed to drive the company trucks...that part my boy doesn't like, as he has to do all the driving on jobs.

many many years ago i went out west to visit my sister and to look for work and eventually ended up interviewing at a trailer call center type operation selling aluminum siding. i read through the mimeographed script which had many handwritten corrections. they said come back tomorrow. i said ok. later on that night i thought about it some more and decided to just give up and go back to MI where i could return to work for the family business for a few months (the rest of the summer). so i called the siding people and told them thanks, but no thanks. i don't regret that decision for a second. at least i could look myself in the mirror and not flinch...

This is going to be a bad weekend have over 60 dogs here, short on help, snow and arctic weather

i just realized from your first post that these kennels are outside! oy! yeah, that would be a real challenge. wear a scarf when going in/out as that will keep the cold air from messing up your lungs/sinuses. *sends hugs*

Wow.
Expectations versus reality. Maybe he thought it would be like the kennel video game he played while reclining on the couch.

Bundle up and drink a lot of hot coffee or tea Alex.
I feel for you. Just keep slugging away at it, you can do it.
Like @flowerbug says, "whatever doesn't kill you wasn't trying hard enough".
