Well, they aren't new, they're heirloom variety of course... but they are new for me.

I managed to germinate 4 seedlings and they all have their first true leaves I noticed today.

Anyone try these? Are the good? What would you suggest I do with them when I have some to pick?

Huh. I did "cream sausage" tomatoes last year, which are supposed to be sorta yellowy, but The Blight of Doom got them--trying again this year. Are they supposed to taste similar, or is it just the shape?

Now it says they are long of course, with green/yellow stripes. I have no idea about taste, but they are listed as super sweet and great for sauces.

So I'll probably save them for that. I didn't do any paste tomatoes. I did do the White Wonder which are so light yellow they are almost white, high sugar content and low on seeds... they can be up to 2lbs per tomato. I'm so excited!!! :D

I remember trying them in 2007 and 2008 and they did pretty well.

Without going back on notes from those years I remember they were smaller bushy plants, dense packed leaves which we didn't thin the first year and had some issues with wilt. Overall thought the plants were pretty resilient.

Good producer, lots of fruit and very early. 60-70 days, I think. Determinate and sets fruit all at once.

Taste is OK. Typical green tomato taste. Sweet. Makes a pretty good sauce, a bit sweet and sour at the same time. A little high on the acid scale for my taste but that's not saying much. :hu

Either way, good luck and let us know how you like them.

Oh, thank you! Are they tough enough to stand being pan fried?! Like fried green tomatoes? I was thinking maybe these would be nice in an asian stir fry or chutney?!

I did a double-take--it sure resembles a cucumber! :p
I hope not, I got only 1 cucumbers I want to bother with this year. :D

But I have more then 25 tomato plants started and they are all heirloom. And only 2 cherry this time around! Not like last time with 7 cherry tom plants... WAY to much to do anything with. :/

So funny, I really hated friend green tomatoes when I moved to NC. I've been here 15 years now, got here from CT when I was 15. My husband said he's hated them too.

Then we go to visit his Brother in Iowa, and WOW... he took us to this restaraunt with them on the menu, his brother orders them for all of us... we eat them to be polite... and WOW.,.. I'm telling you, I make them like that now and I love 'em. :D

Still won't order them anywhere in the south, they still don't taste right. ;)

Well you'll have to share the recipe because although I love tomatoes (we're doing 26 varieties this year) I can't do fried!
