Sorry I missed this post, and thanks for your concern.
This past week has been a nightmare, goat kid born, preparing for the hurricane, hubby coming down with a case of posionwood.
Richard struck Belize last Sunday, as at Cat 1, 92 mph winds, about 20 miles south of Belize City. Belize City is below sea level and of course suffered quite a lot of flooding.
The local houses here are mainly made from wood and sticks with zinc roofs. So some loss of homes and roofs.
About 30% of this years citrus crop on the ground and bananas and plantain flattened.
Loss of power and water in some areas for a couple of days.
But most importantly NO LOSS OF LIFE.
We are situated in the north of Belize about 100miles from where the hurricane struck. All we got was a little rain, which was welcome.
The usual saying in Belize is 'no shoes, no shirt, no worries' this is a very laid back country and things are back to normal.
One thing ties to another, something you have never even thought about, at six degrees of separation from anything or anyone that you know, throws everything out of kilter!!
Good to know that there are places where "no shoes, no shirt, no worries" can make sense to people. And, congratulations on finding your "Lil' Patch o' Kan" .
