Nice surprise last night - rain

Those in wetter climates may not think rain is a big deal but here in SoCal a rain at this time of year is an odd thing. It's often said that San Diego has only two seasons - wet and dry. This is supposed to be the beginning of our dry season so a rain at this time of year is a rare treat. It really has my garden looking perked up even though it caught me by surprise and some tools got caught in it. I had to bring them in and dry them off, then get a coat of oil on them but it is worth the trouble to see my plants looking so happy. Water from a hose just isn't the same as rain from the sky.

I am so pleased for you, but ever so jealous, we are still waiting, in the last week we have had a sprinkling, like 20 drops.

But it's got to break soon, the heat and humidity are horrendous at the moment. We only get 2 or 3 hours in the garden early morning, after that it would be stupid.
