This is our grand daughter. This was posted on the school district's Facebook. We're kinda proud of her!

Lindale ISD fourth grade elementary student Cohen Jennische did not want a typical birthday gift this year from her friends and family. Instead for her 9th birthday, Cohen asked her friends if they could gift to her school supplies and backpacks for those in need.

Cohen was able to collect five backpacks full of school supplies to go to LISD students in need at the beginning of the school year!

The gifted backpacks will provide supplies for two 4th grade students, a 2nd grade and 3rd grade student, as well a kindergarten student. Thank you Cohen!

Great kid Bay! May her selfless attitude continue.:love

P.s. I guess I'm shocked at the ginormous size of school packs kids carry today. I remember walking home with maybe a math book, a library book and a PeeChee folder.

School supplies cost $150 to $200 per child. :thPoor parents don't stand a chance. After the party, our daughter gave us a list of supplies still needed and we spent over $150 to fill in the gaps. Backpacks weren't out yet, so daughter ordered them online. This was all Cohen's idea, no one prompted her, it was all her. Our daughter says Cohen is God's child.

Last Christmas, she took all her report card money she haggled out of her Papaw (he starts at about a dollar per A and she beats up on him to $20 per A. It's a negotiation they both adore) it was $100 and she spent it on Christmas presents for poor children.
