That is a tough one... I think he is asking too much of you. If he believes the dog should be put down- he should tell the wife and do it. I just feel involving you, is wrong. It is my personal opinion that extravagant medical procedures for pets are not a good idea. Good luck...

That's a bad spot the husband has put you in nyboy. He wants you to be the bad guy and back up his lie. Anns husband should be more supportive of his wife at this tough time and not be looking for the easy way out. Recommend a good vet to them..and the vet can make a determination based on the dogs health. Leaving you out of their family loop.

Thanks for the feed back guys, I have been in a mood all day, because of this. Right now the dog is only on eye drops and is happy here. One of the problems I have is Ann got the dog before meeting husband, so I always think of it as her dog not their dog. like Journey said if a spouse did this to me, they would be in big trouble. But I can all so understand a father protecting his family, putting them before a pet. The parents are in another state with baby right now. So I am going to do nothing till forced. Dog can stay with me as long as she stable. If she has a fair up or Dad pushes to put to sleep I will deal with it then.

@Nyboy you deal with some interesting people. Went back and re-read your first post. $15,000 for a vet bill? Are you kidding me? And they wonder why they have money problems? Really? They can't figure it out?

After reading some other opinions, agree not correct to do it behind her back. Pity husband if she goes off but this issue should have been handled $15,000 ago.

Oh Dear. How do you always manage to get stuck in the middle of these things! Because you are a nice guy. :hugsI guess I would refuse to lie to Ann, you do not need the guilt.

@seedcorn , I just think it's wonderful of you to take the blame.
I want you to know you are my go-to blame guy now. Brace yourself!
I burn the dinner, it's Seeds fault. Truck breaks down, it's Seeds fault.
Rains on me when I'm working.....well you get the idea.
Thanks Seed! :hugs :D

@Nyboy, you've had lots of advice. I'll not add to what's been said or what you should do. Personally, I could/would not lie -- not to a client, not to a friend.

Like a poor gambler, I have a definite 'tell' and can't get away with a lie. Nope! Wouldn't do it.
