This morning I walked out my door and came face to chewing face with a deer. His breakfest was my hostas even the Fireisland ones Carol found online. What really annoyed me was rather then fleeing in fear, he slowly turned his back on me and casually walked away, he even had the nerve to stop and sniff a lily!!! I did throw a flower pot at that point I have bad aim and missed. I have been seeing a lot of rabbits lately, wonder what happen to the coyote?

Coyote may have been hit by a car or someone shot/trapped because its a big scary predator (not!!!) then we complain because we're overrun with deer and rabbits.

Sorry to hear about your deer problems. I try to do my part every year and harvest them but I swear for every one I take 2 replace it.

Deer are a big problem in towns. Those aren't the ones that get harvested, because the town deer have lived in town for generations. They have family reunions at some of my jobs!
You know the landscape has been particularly well taken care of when you see does with triplets.

Hostas are like deer crack. Was the Fire Island supposed to be deer resistant NYboy?

A hunter told me coyote eat fox, and fox eat the bunnies. However, we are overrun with bunnies too. Seems as if maybe it was weather conditions if the problem is across the country.

No not deer resistant just unusual has red stems. Saw it in a magazine, had to mailorder not something I can just run out and replace. So much for the hearing on my dogs, they where sound asleep the whole time.

@Nyboy, I purchased (and shared) a Fire Island hosta this year. If you need another one right away, I can't be of much help. It will be a couple of years for mine to get big enough to share with you if you can wait. @baymule may have better luck with hers in the warmer climate and have some earlier than I can share.

Bad Deer. :barnieWhy can't they just eat weeds! o_O
I sure hope it comes back from the roots. Mine are looking good. A bit on the small side but filling out nicely. If you have to replace them you know where to find them now. (We are such enablers.) :p
