or, let them begin the season!

my cell phone has been buzzing away every time an email comes through. i'm waiting for it to catch fire on the table just from all the shaking!

Maybe you could change your alert to a more pleasant sound, that you can ignore. Or, you could unsubscribe to a lot of those retail places' sites.

i keep my phone set to only connect when i'm on wi-fi (keeps my data usage way low that i get a rebate from my carrier). i keep it set to vibrate since i can't have it ringing while at work. i just forget to turn on the other sounds when i'm at home.

my dh seems to think i've been browsing on ebay and won something and that's what all the shaking is about. i admit, i have been buying/winning some seeds from my favorite seller lately but i haven't been that bad. most of those auctions end late at night or while i'm at work so i get the notice all at once when i get home.

i've tried unsubscribing to a few of them but for some reason Staples & Henry Fields keeps coming back. and most of the ones coming in now are for seed companies like Bakers Creek, Pine Tree, Cook's Garden and a few poultry hatcheries (got to resist that urge but it is still nice eye candy).

Tomatofest.com is having a sale. "Now through January 8th!"

I just can't add lots more varieties to the tomato patch. I'd have to kick out olde friends o_O!

Still, up to 50% off for over half of the 650 varieties they offer is a pretty big deal! As cheap as $2/packet. A benefit for ordering their 2016 offerings early.

I got so many Black Friday emails this year, even from online retailers. I don't remember getting so many last year. I've not gone Black Friday shopping even once in my life. I hate shopping enough on normal days as it is! :p

Here is something to warm the soul: A list of retailers that are opting to not promote Black Friday and one that is even deliberately closing for the day (paid day off for employees), but rather encouraging people to spend time with their loved ones and get outdoors.

i did go out today for some good deals. i just don't do the 'butt crack of dawn' thing for the 'limited to 2' or 'door buster' deals. i was up around 7:15 this morning (this is as close as i can get to sleeping late). by the time i got out the door it was about 9am and i ran to Petsmart for the $7.99 deal on kitty litter which they still had tons left. picked up 4 for my parents and bought a 5th to donate to a group that was there asking for cat supplies. got a sweet deal on a canister filter for my 55 gallon fish tank for about 1/2 the price, a light strip for the same tank since my old hood died about 1 1/2 years ago. got some other items but basically everything i got was about 1/2 off their regular prices. told my DH i got my own gift this year & don't worry about getting me anything.

went to the feed store & used my $15 off $50 purchase to get chicken feed & cracked corn, and picked up 2 bags of black oil sunflower seed for $13.99/each. tomorrow i will run back there to use another good coupon they had for Saturday only, i'll pick up my stockpile of shavings to get me through the winter months.

mom gave me a coupon for JC Penney's so i ran there and got towels and spent $19 for 6! i really needed to replace a few that were getting tattered. ran down to the yarn store to pick up an order i had placed a couple months ago. the color is much better looking than their website made it out to be, i am so happy i got it. now to start working on my project!

That's me, too!

I used to be fairly enthusiastic about food shopping. I'd watch for sales, knew prices, be inspired by store offerings. I think that ended when I came to realize that I wasn't gonna be mobile much longer if I continued to gain weight.

Never did I care about shopping. Well, maybe at the sporting goods stores when I was in my late teens!
