Never did Black Friday. Don't do crowds so shopping is done off hours in a few marathon sessions. These past few years, I've found a crowd-less option on line that I really do prefer. Now that I'm with DH all the time, shopping is pretty much out except for the internet. Works for me!
We don't shop at all. We have everything we need or want in this world, so can't think of an earthly reason for going shopping, especially during "madness" times. If we have to shop for food for some reason during the holidays we try to go at off times to avoid others...nothing I despise more than trying to work around shop zombies, who will bump you repeatedly~or mow you down completely~ with their carts in their oblivion and not even apologize for it.
Each year it's worse and worse, so we generally stay off the roads, staying home and away from the crowds as much as possible. The drivers are just as bad as those pushing shopping carts...rude, impatient, in a big hurry, coming across the line at you, tailgating, cutting in and cutting off.
It's weird to me. It's like the whole nation takes some kind of drug that turns them into something subhuman. I always wonder why people partake of the "drug".
i worked in a mall at a restaurant for over 7 years. i don't like shopping because of seeing people that would come in being so grumpy and negative. for years i would take the 1st week of December as my vacation week & get everything i needed out of the way then. lately for gifts, if they don't want gift cards they better like cash! my animals are the ones that take the most importance this time of year for me, so they get the most gifts & goodies that i can stock up on when they are having the best deals.
I was sitting in the driver's seat of my car. Someone was leaning in the open door behind me commenting on how typical, unfashionable, even frumpy my car was. I felt uncomfortable and out-of-date.
Then, I looked in the outside, rearview mirror and could see how the open door was crumbled against the side of the car. I realized that the comments were coming from a person who had just hit the backdoor of my car. I was being made to feel uncomfortable about the frumpiness of the vehicle he had damaged.
Today, I will be shopping for a two-door sports car, red, the more expensive the better!
